Food Fest

A couple of months ago, I was asked by my friend to take some photos for Stew Küche. It is a restaurant here in Singapore that offers German cuisine. The photos were used in hungrygowhere and for a deal post in Superdeals these both are by Insing by the way.

I have placed some screenshots of the site. But you can also personally visit the site. I’ve changed some photos into B&W because those were not taken by me. Ha ha

The Bangkok Experience

I was dumbfounded by the richness of Thailand’s culture. They really did a good job with keeping their culture until this day.

Our first stop: Jim Thompson House

They have a souvenir shop where you can buy all sorts of products made with silk (scarves, bags, shirts, pouches and many more)Kriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-4

We also visited The Grand Palace and Wat Po (the famous Reclining Buddha) by riding the Chao Phraya River Cruise.

This is a good example of a photobomber. Ha haKriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-14

Of course, what’s a BKK experience without going to a night market.

We also checked out the newly opened mall, Terminal 21. It’s a one floor-one concept shopping mall. The concept represents different market streets around the world. Each floor is decorated in to a well-known city streets such as Rome, Tokyo, Japan, Istanbul, etc. The toilets also differs depending on the country they represent—I checked every toilet. Lol

Artsy streets of Bangkok.

I can say, Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the nicest airports I’ve been to.Kriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-44

’Til my next trip. ❤

Banana Cupcake with Honey & Cinnamon Frosting

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-9
Here’s my own version of Martha Stewart’s Banana Cupcakes with Honey-Cinnamon Frosting recipe.

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-1

INGREDIENTS:
Cupcake batter:

  • 1 1/2 Cups All-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 Cup or 1 stick Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 Cup Mashed ripe bananas (about 4-5 bananas)
  • 1 Ripe banana for garnish (optional)
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. Pure vanilla extract

Frosting:

  • 1 1/4 Cup Confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 Tbsp. Honey
  • 1/8 tsp. Ground cinnamon

PROCEDURE:

1. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a standard 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners. Or you can use silicon mini muffin pan just like what I did.

2. Mashed the bananas.

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-2

3. In a bowl, combine all dry ingredients—flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Then mix together.

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-3

4. After mixing, make a well at the center of the flour mixture. This is where you’ll pour the remaining ingredients—butter, mashed bananas, eggs and vanilla. Blend in the mixture but remember not to over mix it. Spoon the batter into the muffin pan.

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-4

5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or try inserting a toothpick, if it comes out clean then the muffins are good.

6. Remove the cupcakes from the pan and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Kriscel Go 2013 Banana Cupcake-6

7. For the frosting, beat all of the ingredients using an electric mixer for about 4 to 5 minutes or until smooth. Frost your cupcakes and top it with sliced bananas.
NOTE: Place the bananas right before serving. Or you can just eat it without the frosting (Banana muffin) Lol

***The frosting looks weird, I’ll practice more.

Online shoe shopping

Image

I ordered Vivi Captoe in mint (P850) from Satchi Store arrived today. But I got mine for only P799 since it was already on sale. Lucky me.

I am so in love with it. Who wouldn’t? Mint + gold, perfect combo! But buying online could be risky. Let me share some personal tips I consider first before clicking that checkout button:

  1. Check customer’s reviews & comments about the store/product. Sometimes, you can spot a bogus shop or if the product you want doesn’t live up to the photograph.
  2. Make sure to ask for the dimensions/sizes before purchasing. Sizes vary from one shop to another like dresses indicated in S/M/L. Shoe sizes sometimes come in smaller sizes than the usual so it is better to ASK.
  3. Find out what materials used in the item is it made of—cotton, chiffon, suede, silk, etc. And for shoes, some are made with pig’s lining, and I think some people are quite sensitive about this.
  4. For meet-ups, try to bring someone with you. Don’t go and meet a stranger in shady places.
  5. For deliveries, make sure to check the goods upon receipt. If the item is damaged or wrong item was sent to you, inform the seller immediately.
  6. Lastly, don’t be shy to ask. Ask, ask, ask. Get my point? Lol It is important that you are sure on what you are paying for.

Happy shopping! 🙂

China – People’s Republic

Here’s a mix of my Beijing-Shanghai trip in 2010—yes I know, so late!>.< We went there at around March so the place was kind of gloomy because winter just ended and the flowers have not yet bloomed.

Chocolate-y Christmas

It’s the holidays again. Time flies so fast. And here we are, spending Christmas in Bohol. Yey!

Touch down at Tagbilaran Airport!

14 THINGS TO DO IN BOHOL:
1. Visit the Chocolate Hills.

I love how colour-coordinated we are.Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-22

The locals will ask you to pose on a broomstick. The effect is like you are flying over Chocolate Hills. But I think ours didn’t achieve that. Lol We were laughing the whole time while taking this photo—it was sort of hard because we’re six and we can’t get the right timing to jump together. But we tried our best. Ha haKriscel Go 2012 Bohol-21

2. Visit some Tarsiers at Tarsiers Conservation Area.

Before entering the park, there’s a brief orientation on the Do’s and Don’ts. Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-13

Remember, no flash photography and keep noise at a minimum.Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-15

Hello there little fellow!

3. If you like butterflies, you can drop by the Bohol Butterfly Sanctuary.

Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-31

You can try out this as well—”I’m a beautiful butterfly” pose. Lol
Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-33

A great way to beat the heat is to eat this yummy natural fruit ice cream. Mine was cheese flavoured and it has cheese bits inside. I died! It’s good! For all those cheese lovers out there, you have to try this!
Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-36

4. Go on a River Cruise at Loboc River. It also includes native lunch on board.

5. Drive along the Bilar Man-Made ForestKriscel Go 2012 Bohol-74

6. Say “She sells seashells by the seashore.” Kidding. Check out Nova Shell Museum.

7. Pass by the Blood Compact Commemorative Shrine and the “Shiphaus”, it’s ship looking house that’s owned by a former ship captain. That’s a mouthful of ships. Lol

8. Visit some of the oldest churches in Bohol.

  • Baclayon Church
  • Dauis Church

9. For those who like some adventure, go to Loboc Eco-tourism Adventure Park and try out the zipline and cable car.

10. Another place you can visit is the Hinagdanan Cave.

11. Crossed the Tigbao Hanging bridge.

12. Visit Prony, the world’s biggest and longest native phyton in captivity at Bohol Phyton & Wildlife Park.

13. Eat healthy/organic/fresh food. Dine in Bohol Bee Farm.

The ingredients they serve came from their own garden. Nom! Here are some of the dishes we tried:

Aside from honey products they also sell potted herbs.

14. And of course, buy some souvenir shirts.

WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed at Bohol Beach Club. And the overall experience is quite nice.

Our room:

The beach is also lovely!

They transformed the dining area to be extra special because it’s the Christmas Eve.

(DIY) 2 in 1 Desk Organiser

2in1 desk holderTired of seeing your pens, pins, clips, and stuff scattered all over your desk? Or you just want to add some personal touch to your workstation? Why not turn some old cans into a dual-purpose desk holder? It doesn’t only serve as a holder but you can also use it to post some notes and to-do lists by using magnets. Here’s how you can do it:

Materials:

  • Craft paper / gift wrapper
  • Beads
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • 4 pcs. tin cans of the same size

materials

Steps:

  1. Clean cans thoroughly and let them dry.
  2. Measure the height and the diameter of the can then add half an inch in the diameter for gluing. Cut the craft paper according to the measurement. You can also use different designs per can.
  3. Put double-sided tape, same as the height of the can, on one side. Then, stick the edge of the wrapper to the tape then wrap it around. Put some glue on the flap to secure it. Repeat step for the other cans.
  4. You can also decorate the mouth of your cans with beads; put some glue around the opening then put beads one by one. Use your creativity to play around with your cans.
  5. Using a glue gun, join the cans together by positioning them side by side, laying down—two on top and two at the bottom. make sure the glue will not be visible once done.
  6. Now, put it on your desk for that organized look!
